INDRODUCTION
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell at ITM Gwalior is dedicated to fostering social responsibility and community service among students. The NSS Cell operates under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, with the objective of developing the personality of students through social and community service activities.
Objectives
- To enable students to understand the community in which they live.
- To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving.
- To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among students.
- To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
- To practice national integration and social harmony.
NSS Motto
"Not Me, But You" This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view.
NSS Logo
The logo of NSS is based on the "Rath Wheel" of the Konark Sun Temple of Odisha. It signifies the movement in life across time and space. The 24 spokes represent the 24 hours of the day, symbolizing energy, dynamism, and the progressive outlook of youth.

Program Officers
• Mr. Narendra Kumar Verma: Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department, Program Officer NSS Cell.• Mrs. Archana Tomar: Assistant Professor, CSE Department, Program Officer for NSS Girls Unit.
Capacity
• 2018-19 to 2019-20: 100 volunteers per academic session.• 2020-21 onwards: 200 volunteers per academic session, including government-funded boys and girls units.
Achievements of NSS Cell
• Selection of volunteers for prestigious national and state-level camps such as the, Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp, National Integration Camp, National Adventure Camp, State Leadership Training Camp, National/ State level Program organized by Govt. of MP and Got. Of India.• Recognition at the university and national levels for contributions to Swachh Bharat Summer Internship.
• Perennial Fund Award under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan for effective contribution to adopted villages.
• Participation in various leadership and training programs.
• Secured awards in competitions like Nukkad Natak on HIV Awareness and tree plantation drives.
• ITM NSS volunteers and Program Officer will be nominated for the NSS State Award by the Jiwaji University NSS Cell.
• ITM NSS volunteers have been actively collaborating with the Gwalior district administration in fulfilling several important responsibilities, such as serving as Special Police Officers, contributing to regular cool water distribution programs during the summer, and volunteering in government-organized events, among other activities.
Major Activities
- Blood Donation Camp- Approximately 500 units of blood donated by NSS volunteers, provided to JAH Hospital.
- Expert Talks, Workshops, and Seminars- Organized on various community and awareness issues.
- ITM Adopted Village Visits under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan- Regular visits to ITM-adopted villages in every semester.
- Swachh Bharat Summer Internship- University-level first prize for exemplary contribution to cleanliness drives.
- Awareness Programs- Street plays, rallies, and campaigns on topics such as HIV/AIDS, environmental sustainability, and women’s empowerment.
- Community Service- Active participation in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, including surveys and issue identification in adopted villages.
- Plantation drives under the "One Student One Tree" initiative.
- 7 Days Special Leadership Training Residential Camp- Seven-day residential NSS camps focusing on personality development, meditation, and community welfare.
- State and national-level leadership and integration camps attended by volunteers.
- Recognition and Awards- Honors from government officials for exceptional service and contributions.
- Cultural and Educational Activities- Organization of competitions such as debates, essay writing, and poster making to enhance awareness and creativity among students.
The NSS Cell at ITM Gwalior continues to inspire students to contribute to society, fostering leadership, and promoting a culture of selfless service and unity.
